Group raw material specification manager

The departments quality assurance, regulatory affairs, raw material specification management and safety/health/environment [SHE] are brought together into one department called QESHR, with the aim to expand collaboration, remove duplication and improve cross-functional governance throughout the One Zeelandia organization. Food safety, the safety of our employees, the quality of our products and compliance are a crucial part of our license to operate.

To establish a specification management strategy, policy and implement standards we are looking for an experienced result-driven:

Group raw material specification manager

The [raw material] specification manager has an important group responsibility to ensure one way of working across Zeelandia in how we deal with raw materials. Together with your team of specialists, you optimize our economy of scale by centrally managing Zeelandia’s shared raw materials. You coordinate all aspects that apply across countries. And together with the other group QESHR managers, you will contribute to the QESHR strategy.

Role in the organization
The [raw material] specification manager is responsible for the specification management process at the group level and manages the team responsible for all activities related to specification management and food safety aspects within the scope of raw materials. In future the scope will be expanded to third-party products [3PP], packaging and non-food shared within the group. You are part of the QESHR team and report to the QESHR Director.

Your job responsibilities

  • Establish a specification management strategy, policy and execute implementation plans.
  • Set up a group food safety management system for raw materials.
  • Manage the specification management & food safety team and corresponding processes and continuous improvement.
  • Together with the specialists, define the specification management & food safety procedures, guidelines, working instructions and oversee remediation of issues in specifications.
  • Form the connection between the specialist team below you and the other areas of QESHR. Work together with the regulatory affairs manager to assure implementation of regulatory changes affecting specifications in scope.
  • Develop and lead an internal network regarding specification management and food safety of raw materials.


The ideal candidate brings the following
We are looking for a result-oriented colleague with a drive to grow and develop this new team.

  • 5-10 years of work experience, preferably in a comparable position.
  • Knowledge of international laws and regulations related to food and quality systems.
  • Knowledge of & experience working with food safety raw materials, packaging & non-food.
  • Able to deal with multiple priorities and conflicting interests in a moving environment.
  • Has an eye for creating synergies and a proactive attitude.
  • Has an outward-looking view and understands market dynamics.
  • Acts with integrity, ability to think independently and critically.
  • Results-oriented, identifying measurable outcomes.
  • Excellent in communication both in writing and verbally.
  • Experience working with reporting lines between a group organization and multiple operating companies.
  • Experience managing a matrix structured team, including managing people performance and development.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages preferred.
