Zeelandia starts operations in Colombia

Zierikzee, 31 August 2018. The Royal Zeelandia Group has expanded its operations this month to Colombia. With a state-of-the-art plant and office located in Tocancipá, near Bogota, Zeelandia will serve the Colombian bakery industry with a broad range of bread- & pastry ingredients and release agents. The local workforce of Zeelandia is expected to grow short-term to about 50 people.

"With this launch and the expertise that Zeelandia brings to the Colombian market, we seek to grow the bakery industry. As Colombia's economy is one of the best in the region, it will be the starting point of our expansion in Latin America, "says Dager Flórez, Managing Director of Zeelandia Colombia.

The arrival of Zeelandia to Colombia is a sign of the increasing interest of Dutch companies to enter the Colombian market. "Colombia and the Netherlands have a very dynamic commercial relationship, nowadays there are more than 150 large Dutch companies, but also small and medium enterprises, which have a direct presence or representation in the country. In 2017, the Netherlands was the 8th foreign investor in Colombia, "says Dutch ambassador Jeroen Roodenburg. "The arrival of Zeelandia to Colombia fits well with the priorities of the new government, bringing entrepreneurship and innovation to an important sector”.
