Carreer opportunities in R&D

At Zeelandia, it’s all about quality, innovation and inspiration. We give substance to this by translating our knowledge into solutions and ideas for our clients. By managing sales and distribution in house, we are in close contact with bakers and we can respond to their wishes and needs. Not surprisingly the Zeelandia motto is: 'Creating Possibilities'.

Zeelandia wants to be product leader by launching innovative products on the market. In order to achieve this, innovative technologies have to be developed or discovered. We call this research & discovery. This covers specialised fields: process technology, ingredients and product technology, bakery processes and applications, nutrition, food law and analysis methods. We seek connections between these areas and strive to find total solutions.  So that we can invest further in innovation, with leading products as the result, we are looking for people with a passion for practical research. We are therefore keen to make contact with

R&D Project Managers

The R&D project manager is responsible for the whole process and the results of multidisciplinary R&D projects from project idea right up to delivery to the commissioning party and users. In addition to the project management method developed specially for Zeelandia, you will also make use of your own experience and creativity and the talents of the project team that you yourself have put together. You will direct this team in a result-oriented and efficient manner and report on the progress of your projects to the commissioning party or steering group. Hierarchically, you report to the R&D manager. Important for this position is broad experience in research, as well as experience in the role of project manager. In addition, such capabilities as a focus on results, cost awareness, integrated thinking, cooperation and organisational sensitivity are essential.

R&D Specialists

As R&D specialist, you take part in project teams and line activities, whereby you put forward ideas, perform research activities independently and report on these to the project manager or team leader. You possess knowledge of one or more sub-areas of our R&D discipline and specific knowledge of research techniques. You are independent, creative, proactive and meticulous. You are capable of working as part of a team. Ideally, this is your second or third job, for example after spending a few years as a research assistant or trainee, or you already have experience in a similar post.

R&D Trainees

Research & discovery is all about learning. As trainee, we expect you to possess up-to-date knowledge on one or more of our specialised fields and the motivation to share this knowledge by ‘pollinating’ Zeelandia with new ideas and working methods and the willingness to add to your knowledge by learning from colleagues and performing practical research work. You will work on (sub-)research projects, supervised by a specialist or manager, and report on these. We expect you to demonstrate clear motivation, an eagerness to learn, meticulousness and the ability to function as part of a team. Ideally, you have already performed some research during work placement or during your study.

Enthusiasm for, and an affinity with, research & discovery activities and University (of Applied Sciences) level education are a requirement for all positions. Considering the international environment, we also expect a good mastery of English. Experience with bread, confectionery or release agents is an advantage.
